REE entered into the water sector in 2004, recognising the significant potential from the rapid urbanisation of Ho Chi Minh City in the early 21st century. The company’s first investment was the Thu Duc B.O.O Water Plant, a water treatment plant with a designed capacity of 300,000m3/day.

From 2004 to 2021, REE invested significantly in the water sector, with a portfolio including four water production plants, three water distribution companies, one water production-distribution company, and one company operating in technology consulting and construction for water plant projects across Vietnam.
